Slovenia Insider Travel Guide and Tips

Best of Slovenia: An Insider’s Guide to Must-See Travel Destinations and Tips

There are fantastic destinations all over the world. Some of them are far, far away and others are very close. Like Slovenia, for example, our first of twelve top travel destinations for 2020.

The small, beautiful country is just around the corner and still very few have it in mind when planning their trip. But that will probably change soon – so how about a quick weekend trip to Slovenia? Our tip: First go to the mountains and then end the trip with a great day in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana.

The Soča Valley in the Julian Alps is absolutely worth seeing. From Ljubljana to there you need only two hours by car. And they are worthwhile: Because a river cannot wind its way through a gorge more wild, rough, blue and beautiful! You can also experience a lot of action here.

How about rafting? Also cool and a real thrill: Cross the valley high up on a zipline! If you like it quieter, we recommend exploring the area on hikes.

Bled is only 75 kilometers north or a good hour and a half from Soča Valley, a pretty little town with a lake of the same name. There is a small island in the middle of the lake. Another tip: Bohinjsko Jezero, a comparatively unknown lake, is almost even more beautiful.
