Khajuraho Temple Tickets
The entry fee of Khajuraho Temples is Rs 40 for Indian nationals. Foreigners have to pay Rs 600 and for the SAARC and BIMSTEC tourists, the entry rate is similar to Indian citizens (Rs 40). There is no temple ticket for children under 15 years.

Khajuraho Temples are open from 8 am to 6 pm. During this time, one can take the lord darshan.
Khajuraho Temple Light and Sound Show Timings
The light and sound show, organized by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department, is available in English and Hindi. The winter timing of this show is from 6.30 pm till 7.25 pm which takes place from October till February. During the summer from March to September, this show occurs between 7.30 pm to 8.25 pm. Indians have to pay Rs 250 and foreigners pay Rs 700 to watch this show.
Khajuraho Museum Timings
The opening time of the Museum is from 8 am to 5 pm and is closed on Friday. The ticket rate for Indians, SAARC and BIMSTEC travelers is Rs 10 while international tourists need to pay Rs 250. The museum lies near the Matageshwar Temple across the Western group of temples.

The months from October to March are usually warm and nights are cool. Khajuraho is well-versed with the travelers of each nation and their fashions and styles. Loose, light clothing, cotton shirts and trousers are the best when visiting the temples. Wear light and easy footwear as it will be easy to remove them before entering the temples.
How to Reach
Air – Civil Aerodrome Khajuraho, the official name of Khajuraho Airport is just 5 km away from the main temple.
Rail – Khajuraho Railway Station is at a distance of 5 km from the main temple. It connects with few major cities such as Delhi and Bhopal and towns directly. Other railway stations such as Jhansi, Katni and Satna lies about 130 to 200 km away from the desired place.
Road – Roads are easily accessible and linked with many major cities of India.
Best Time to Visit
The winter months from October to March are the best to visit Khajuraho Temples. People who are culturally inclined should plan to visit this temple during the annual Khajuraho Dance festival. Every February, the week-long classical dance takes place over there. If you are an enthusiast, you must attend this festival to watch out the various Indian classical dance forms.
Some Other Interesting Facts
The city got its name from the Hindi word “Khaujur” which means “date” as the city walls got its beauty with date palms. Khajjurpura was the previous name of Khajuraho.
Sandstone was used to build most of these temple buildings with different pink, buff, and yellow shades.
In the medieval period, out of 85 temples in Khajuraho, only 22 remained and the rest got destroyed by natural calamities.
Khajuraho monuments got ranked as the best-protected monuments of antiquity by the Archaeological Survey of India.
